Maurizio Arroyo Reyes

He was born in Bogotá (Colombia) in 1997, began his musical training at the age of 8 in Madrid, Spain. He studied at the Centro Integrado de Música Padre Antonio Soler in San Lorenzo del Escorial under the guidance of professors Fe del Campo and Miguel Baselga, graduating with distinction in 2015 and receiving the End-of-Degree Prize in piano.

 

From 2016, he continued his studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, graduating in 2020 with first-class honors and receiving the Carnwath Piano Scholarship from The Musicians’ Company. This allowed him to pursue a master’s degree under the mentorship of Aaron Shorr and Sasa Gerzelj Donaldson, which he completed in 2022.

 

He has had the privilege of attending masterclasses with renowned international teachers such as Pascal Nemirovsky, Klaus Hellwig, Artur Pizarro, and Petras Geniušas, greatly enriching his musical development.

 

Throughout his career, Maurizio has had numerous opportunities to shine as both a soloist and a chamber musician in prestigious venues, including the Fazzioli Piano Factory in Sacile, Palais Lichtenau in Potsdam, Kühlspot in Berlin, The City Music Society – Bartholomew the Great’s Church in London, The Brunton in Edinburgh, Hawick Music Club, Mid-Argyll Arts Association, Music in Lanark – The Institute, Music in Peebles – Eastgate Theatre, Instituto León Tolstoy, Music in West Kilbride, Inverurie Music, Bute Arts Society – Trinity Church on the Isle of Bute, Newton Stewart & District Music Club, and West Street Arts Centre-Penicuik, among others.

 

In 2018, he made his orchestral solo debut at the celebrated Christmas Concert with the Glasgow Symphony Orchestra. Later, he was selected as a soloist for the Concerto Concert with the RCS Symphony Orchestra. In November 2022, he debuted as a soloist with the Edinburgh City Orchestra at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Edinburgh and performed with the Dundee Symphony Orchestra (DSO) at Caird Hall in November 2023.

 

Since 2020, Maurizio has been part of the Young Artist Program of The Musicians’ Company and is also a member of Chamber Music Scotland, with whom he toured Scotland in 2020 and 2021.

In 2021, he debuted alongside his duo partner on BBC Radio 3.

Maurizio stands out for his charisma and attention to detail in musical interpretation, striving to establish a connection between body, mind, and spirit to convey the essence of his music. As Stuart Montgomery described him, he is “a master of technique, poetic vision, and complete understanding of music.”
